Job Description
About the Organization:
CORD (www.cordindia.in) began its journey in 1985 in Sidhbari, Himachal Pradesh. Originally known as the Chinmaya Rural Primary Health Care and Training Centre (CRPHC&TC), we improved rural communities through self-perpetuating development. The success in Sidhbari reached beyond community health and diversified our training programs and interventions on multiple issues. We took our grassroots and training sessions held at the Sidhbari to other states such as Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Punjab.
Our approach revolves around a women-led movement aimed at delivering effective local governance. We leverage local knowledge to drive change in remote rural areas, uniting villages through women-led Mahila Mandals at the Gram Panchayat level. Our initiatives address a range of critical issues, including poverty, health, education, social injustice, and more, and they consistently make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve. CORD facilitates the emergence of active and vibrant Panchayats by engaging communities from the wards to the Panchayat level. Actively Involving communities and bringing them to the Central Stage of Development by linking them to Govt Programs and Schemes.
About the Fellowship:
The CORD Rural Development Fellowship guides a continuous journey of growth, empowering individuals and communities through a dynamic process of knowing, working and shared learning. “Knowing is not doing. Doing is Doing” This continuous loop emphasises that self-improvement and community development are not linear but rather and ongoing interconnected cycle. The 2-year fellowship module instils in the candidate a strong foundation of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Comprehensive Integrated Grassroot development through empowerment of Community Based Organizations (CBO) to participate in their own development. The fellow would get hands own exposure developing and scaling projects nationally.
