Job Description

Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) was established in 1986 by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, primarily to cater to the professional training needs of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers inducted via UPSC every year. Over the years, SSIFS diversified its activities to include Mid-Career Training Programmes at various levels, training programme for First Time Heads of Mission, training programme for Commercial Representatives posted in Indian Missions abroad, training programme for Defence Attaches posted to join our Embassies around the world, orientation courses for deputationists and members of other Civil Services, courses of relevance to non-Representational Grade officials of the Ministry as also the courses for foreign diplomats with an aim to build bridges of friendship and cooperation with countries around the world.

Job Responsibilities

  • To function as Course Coordinator for various training programmes conducted at SSIFS for Indian officers & staff and foreign diplomats.
  • To assist in curating various training programmes held at SSIFS.
  • To liaise and coordinate with relevant entities as part of the training programmes.
  • To undertake research on various subjects, as required.
  • Evaluation of trainees, as required.
  • Prepare draft and documents from time to time.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Head of the Division.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • The Applicant should be an Indian national.
  • Applicants should have a Master’s degree or higher from a recognized university in India or abroad.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have degree in International Relations, Political Science and Economics.
  • Experience of work in a reputed academic institution, think-tank or research organization in the area of foreign policy or international affairs.
  • Wide ranging experience in writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in English with good communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS office.
  • Candidate should not be more than 35 years of age on the last date of submission of application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Specialized domain knowledge/evidence of original thinking / evidence of content writing-peer-reviewed publications, journals newspapers / media reports / experience of work in academia, think-tank or Research organization in the area of foreign policy / International affairs / Public policy.
